Canyon de Chelly National Monument 2/29
The Navajo lived in this canyon, growing peaches, corn etc. They also used this as a base to raid white settlers in New Mexico. In 1863, soldiers led by Kit Carson wiped them out. We were able to walk down into the canyon and view a ruin dated back to 1200. The walk down and up looks a lot harder than it was.
